Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine condition in women of reproductive age.  We don’t know what causes it but we know there are many genetic susceptibilities and environmental factors which may lead to the clinical condition known as PCOS.  It may cause problems with irregular periods, excessive body hair (hirsutism), weight gain and difficulties with fertility.
